1 Praise YAH! For [it is] good to praise our God, || For pleasant—lovely [is] praise. Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 YHWH [is] building Jerusalem, || He gathers the driven away of Israel. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 Who is giving healing to the broken of heart, || And is binding up their griefs. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4 Appointing the number of the stars, || He gives names to all of them. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
5 Our Lord [is] great, and abundant in power, || There is no narration of His understanding. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
6 YHWH is causing the meek to stand, || Making the wicked low to the earth. The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground. The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Answer to YHWH with thanksgiving, || Sing to our God with a harp. Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.
8 Who is covering the heavens with clouds, || Who is preparing rain for the earth, || Who is causing grass to spring up [on] mountains, He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills. He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 Giving to the beast its food, || To the young of the ravens that call. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
10 He does not delight in the might of the horse, || He is not pleased in the legs of a man. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 YHWH is pleased with those fearing Him, || With those waiting for His kindness. but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
12 Glorify, O Jerusalem, YHWH, || Praise your God, O Zion. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! Extol the LORD, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
13 For He strengthened the bars of your gates, || He has blessed your sons in your midst. For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you. He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
14 Who is making your border peace, || He satisfies you [with] the fat of wheat. He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat. He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 Who is sending forth His saying [on] earth, || His word runs very speedily. He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
16 Who is giving snow like wool, || He scatters hoarfrost as ashes. He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes. He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 Casting forth His ice like morsels, || Who stands before His cold? He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold? He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends forth His word and melts them, || He causes His wind to blow—the waters flow. He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 Declaring His words to Jacob, || His statutes and His judgments to Israel. He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and rules to Israel. He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He has not done so to any nation, || As for judgments, they have not known them. Praise YAH! He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his rules. Praise the LORD! He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.
