1 For the choir director. Of David. The wicked fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They act corruptly, they commit abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. For the director of music. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
2 Yahweh looks down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who has insight, Anyone who seeks after God. The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3 They have all turned aside, altogether they have become worthless; There is no one who does good, not even one. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Do all the workers of iniquity not know, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon Yahweh? Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD? Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD.
5 There they are in great dread, For God is with the righteous generation. There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, But Yahweh is his refuge. You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
7 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores His captive people, May Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad. Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
