1 A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. I have called You from the depths, YHWH. Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! A song of ascents. Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD;
2 Lord, listen to my voice, || Your ears are attentive to the voice of my supplications. O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
3 If You observe iniquities, Lord YAH, who stands? If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
4 But forgiveness [is] with You, that You may be feared. But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
5 I hoped [for] YHWH—my soul has hoped, || And I have waited for His word. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
6 My soul [is] for the Lord, || More than those watching for morning, || Watching for morning! my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7 Israel waits on YHWH, || For kindness [is] with YHWH, || And redemption [is] abundant with Him. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
8 And He redeems Israel from all his iniquities! And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.
