1 A song of ascents. When the LORD restored the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers. When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. A Song of Ascents. When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion, We were like those who dream. A song of ascents. 2 Then our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. The LORD hath done great things for us; <i>whereof</i> we are glad. The LORD has done great things for us; We are joyful. The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our captives, O LORD, like streams in the Negev. Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb! Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. Restore our fortunes, LORD, As the streams in the South. Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Those who sow in tears shall harvest with joyful shouting. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.
6 He who goes out weeping, bearing a trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy, carrying sheaves of grain. He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves <i>with him</i>. One who goes here and there weeping, carrying <i>his</i> bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves <i>with him.</i> Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
