1 A Song for the Ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills, from where my help does come. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?
2 My help is from YHWH, the Maker of the heavens and the earth. My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not give your foot to the slipping; the One guarding you will not slumber. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 Behold, He does not slumber, and He does not sleep—the One guarding Israel. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 YHWH is the One guarding you; YHWH is your shade on your right hand. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 By day the sun will not strike you, nor the moon in the night. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
7 YHWH will guard you from all evil; He will guard your soul. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;
8 YHWH will guard your going out and your coming in, from now even to forever. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
