A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. A song of ascents. In my distress I cried to the LORD, and He answered me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me.
Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips and a deceitful tongue. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue? What will He do to you, and what will be added to you, O deceitful tongue? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue?
He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush. Sharp arrows will come from the warrior, with burning coals of the broom tree! A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree!
Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. Too long have I dwelt among those who hate peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace.
I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war. I am in favor of peace; but when I speak, they want war. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!
