IN my distress I cried to the LORD, and he heard me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lips of the ungodly and from deceitful tongues. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What shall be given to you? or what shall be added to you, you deceitful tongues? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
The arrows of the mighty are sharp; they are as hot coals of oak. A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
Woe is me, that my sojourn is prolonged, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
My soul has long dwelt with him that hates peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I am for peace; but when I speak they fight with me. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
