I cried to the LORD in my distress, and he responded to me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
|LORD, deliver me from lips that lie and tongues that deceive.| Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What will be given to you, and what will be done to you, you treacherous tongue? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
Like a sharp arrow from a warrior, along with fiery coals from juniper trees! A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
How terrible for me, that I am an alien in Meshech, that I reside among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
I have resided too long with those who hate peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I am in favor of peace; but when I speak, they are in favor of war. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
