{A Song of degrees.} In my trouble I called unto Jehovah, and he answered me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Jehovah, deliver my soul from the lying lip, from the deceitful tongue. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What shall be given unto thee, what shall be added unto thee, thou deceitful tongue? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
Sharp arrows of a mighty one, with burning coals of broom-wood. A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
My soul hath long dwelt with them that hate peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I [am for] peace; but when I speak, they [are] for war. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
