Do not act with violence toward the pauper because he is poor. And do not weary the needy at the gate. Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court,
For the Lord will judge his case, and he will pierce those who have pierced his soul. for the LORD will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them. for the LORD will take up their case and will exact life for life.
Do not be willing to be a friend to an angry man, and do not walk with a furious man, Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered,
lest perhaps you learn his ways, and take up a stumbling block to your soul. lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
Do not be willing to be with those who certify with their hands, and who offer themselves as a guarantee against debts. Be not one of those who give pledges, who put up security for debts. Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts;
For if you do not have the means to restore, what reason should there be for him to take the covering from your bed? If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you? if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.
Do not cross beyond the ancient limits that your fathers have set. Do not move the ancient landmark that your fathers have set. Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors.
Have you seen a man swift in his work? He shall stand in the sight of kings, and not before those who are disreputable. Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.
