1 False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable unto him. A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight. The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.
2 Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
3 When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.
4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

8 A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place. The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead. The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead.
9 In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous. With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors, but through knowledge the righteous escape.
10 In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

13 A double-tongued man discloses the secret counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters. Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
14 They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety. Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.
15 A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe.
16 A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonour. The slothful come to want: but the diligent support themselves with wealth. A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches. A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.
17 A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.
18 An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth. The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
19 A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly ends in death. Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die. Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.
20 Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him. Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are his delight. The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.
21 He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness he shall receive a faithful reward. Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered. Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
22 As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded women. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

24 There are some who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are some also who gather, yet have less. One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
25 Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
26 May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives it . The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
27 He that devises good counsels seeks good favour: but as for him that seeks after evil, evil shall overtake him. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it. Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.
28 He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
29 He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.
30 Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
31 If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner! If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
