1 Dishonest scales are detestable to the LORD, but an accurate weight is his delight. A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight. The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.
2 When arrogance comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

9 With his mouth the ungodly destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous are rescued. With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. 10 When the righteous thrive, a city rejoices; when the wicked die, there is joyful shouting. When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. 11 A city is built up by the blessing of the upright, but it is torn down by the mouth of the wicked. By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown. 12 Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, but a person with understanding keeps silent. Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent. Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure. 16 A gracious woman gains honor, but violent people gain only riches. A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches. A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.
17 A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel person brings ruin on himself. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.
18 The wicked person earns an empty wage, but the one who sows righteousness, a true reward. The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
19 Genuine righteousness leads to life, but pursuing evil leads to death. Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die. Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.
20 Those with twisted minds are detestable to the LORD, but those with blameless conduct are his delight. Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are his delight. The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.
21 Be assured that a wicked person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape. Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered. Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
22 A beautiful woman who rejects good sense is like a gold ring in a pig’s snout. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous turns out well, but the hope of the wicked leads to wrath. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, the expectation of the wicked in wrath. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.

25 A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
26 People will curse anyone who hoards grain, but a blessing will come to the one who sells it. The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
27 The one who searches for what is good seeks favor, but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it. Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.
28 Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
29 The one who brings ruin on his household will inherit the wind, and a fool will be a slave to someone whose heart is wise. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but a cunning person takes lives. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
31 If the righteous will be repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and sinful. If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner! If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
