In the good of the righteous ones a city rejoices, and in the destruction of wicked ones is a shout of joy. When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
By the blessing of the upright a city is lifted high, and by the mouth of the wicked ones it is torn down. By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.
The one despising his neighbor is lacking of heart, and a man of understanding keeps quiet. Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent. Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.
One going about slandering is revealing secret counsel, and the one faithful of spirit conceals the matter. Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
Without counsels, a people falls, and salvation is in many giving counsel. Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.
One will surely suffer evil if he pledges for for a stranger, and one who hates striking hands remains secure. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe.
A woman of grace grasps honor, and the ruthless ones grasp riches. A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches. A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.
A man of kindness deals well with his soul, and a cruel one troubles his flesh. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.
A wicked one makes a reward of deception, and the one sowing righteousness has a wage of truth. The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
Rightly is righteousness for life, and the one pursuing evil is unto his own death. Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die. Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.
The crooked of heart are an abomination to YHWH, and those blameless in their way are His delight. Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are his delight. The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.
Hand to hand, a wicked one is not acquitted, and the seed of the righteous will escape punishment. Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered. Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
A ring of gold in the nose of a pig, is a beautiful woman lacking discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
The desire of the righteous is only good, and the hope of the wicked is wrath. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, the expectation of the wicked in wrath. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.
There is one dispersing, and increasing more, and one withholding from uprightness, only for lack. One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A soul of blessing is made fat, and the one who drenches, he also will sprout. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
The one withholding grain, the people will curse him, and blessing is on the head of the one selling. The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
The one earnestly seeking good seeks favor, and the one seeking evil, it will come to him. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it. Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.
The one trusting in his riches, he will fall, and the righteous ones will sprout like the leaf. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
The one troubling his own house will inherit the wind, and the fool is servant to the wise of heart. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.
The fruit of a righteous one is a tree of life, and the one taking souls is wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
Behold, a righteous one will be repaid in the land, surely also the ungodly and the sinner! If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner! If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
