| 32 | And Eleazar son of Aaron the priest [is] the prince of the princes of the Levites, [with] the oversight of the keepers of the charge of the holy place. | And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest was to be chief over the chiefs of the Levites, and to have oversight of those who kept guard over the sanctuary. | The chief leader of the Levites was Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest. | 37 | and the pillars of the court all around, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords. | also the pillars around the court, with their bases and pegs and cords. | as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs and ropes. | |
| 38 | And those encamping before the Dwelling Place eastward, before the Tent of Meeting, at the east, [are] Moses and Aaron, and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the sons of Israel, and the stranger who comes near is put to death. | Those who were to camp before the tabernacle on the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, guarding the sanctuary itself, to protect the people of Israel. And any outsider who came near was to be put to death. | Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death. | |
| 39 | All those numbered of the Levites whom Moses numbered—Aaron also—by the command of YHWH, by their families, every male from a son of a month and upward, [are] twenty-two thousand. | All those listed among the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron listed at the commandment of the LORD, by clans, all the males from a month old and upward, were 22,000. | The total number of Levites counted at the LORD’s command by Moses and Aaron according to their clans, including every male a month old or more, was 22,000. | |

| 41 | and you have taken the Levites for Me (I [am] YHWH), instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites instead of every firstling among the livestock of the sons of Israel.” | And you shall take the Levites for me—I am the LORD—instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the cattle of the people of Israel.” | Take the Levites for me in place of all the firstborn of the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the firstborn of the livestock of the Israelites. I am the LORD.” | |

The Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD. | “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be mine. I am the LORD. | |
| 46 | And [from] those ransomed of the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of the sons of Israel, who are more than the Levites, | And as the redemption price for the 273 of the firstborn of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites, | To redeem the 273 firstborn Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites, | |
| 47 | you have even taken five shekels apiece by the counted head—you take by the shekel of the holy place; the shekel [is] twenty gerahs; | you shall take five shekels per head; you shall take them according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel of twenty gerahs), | collect five shekels for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. | |
| 48 | and you have given the money to Aaron and to his sons, whereby those over and above are ransomed.” | and give the money to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for those who are over.” | Give the money for the redemption of the additional Israelites to Aaron and his sons.” | |
