| 4 | Ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ἑαυτούς Εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν | There were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment wasted like that? | Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? | |
| 5 | ἠδύνατο γὰρ τοῦτο τὸ μύρον πραθῆναι ἐπάνω δηναρίων τριακοσίων καὶ δοθῆναι τοῖς πτωχοῖς καὶ ἐνεβριμῶντο αὐτῇ | For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they scolded her. | It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly. | |
