1 Call now, if there is answering thee; and to whom from the holy ones wilt thou turn? “Call now; is there anyone who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn? “Call if you will, but who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
2 For to the foolish, and anger will slay, and the simple will jealousy kill. Surely vexation kills the fool, and jealousy slays the simple. Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
3 I saw the foolish one taking root, and suddenly I shall curse his habitation. I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling. I myself have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
4 His sons shall be far from salvation, and they shall be crushed in the gate, and none delivering. His children are far from safety; they are crushed in the gate, and there is no one to deliver them. His children are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
5 Which his harvest the hungry one will devour, and not from thorns shall they take it, and destruction gaped after their substance. The hungry eat his harvest, and he takes it even out of thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth. The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from among thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
6 For toil will not come forth from the dust, and labor will not spring up from the earth; For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground, For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground.
7 For man shall be born to labor as the sons of the flame will lift up to fly. but man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward. Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
8 But I will seek to God, and to God set my cause: “As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, “But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.
9 He did great things, and no searching; and wonders even no number: who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number: He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
10 He gave rain upon the face of the earth, and sent waters upon the out places: he gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields; He provides rain for the earth; he sends water on the countryside.
11 To raise up the humbled to height; and those mourning were exalted to salvation. he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. The lowly he sets on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

18 For he will cause pain, and he will bind up: he will smite and his hands will heal. For he wounds, but he binds up; he shatters, but his hands heal. For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.
19 In six straits he will deliver thee, and in seven, evil shall not touch upon thee. He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no evil shall touch you. From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will touch you.
20 In famine he redeemed thee from death, and in war from the hands of the sword. In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. In famine he will deliver you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
21 In the scourge of the tongue thou shalt be hid, and thou shalt not be afraid of desolation when it shall come. You shall be hidden from the lash of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes. You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.
22 At desolation and at hunger thou shalt laugh, and from the beasts of the earth thou shalt not fear. At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the beasts of the earth. You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the wild animals.
23 For with the stones of the field they covenant, and the beast of the field was at peace with thee. For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you. For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 And thou knewest that thy tent is peace, and thou reviewedst thy dwelling, and thou shalt not sin. You shall know that your tent is at peace, and you shall inspect your fold and miss nothing. You will know that your tent is secure; you will take stock of your property and find nothing missing.
25 And thou knewest the multitude of thy seed, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. You shall know also that your offspring shall be many, and your descendants as the grass of the earth. You will know that your children will be many, and your descendants like the grass of the earth.
26 Thou shalt come in old age to thy grave, as the ascending of a heap of sheaves in its time. You shall come to your grave in ripe old age, like a sheaf gathered up in its season. You will come to the grave in full vigor, like sheaves gathered in season.
27 Behold this, we searched it out, so it is: hear it, and know thou for thyself. Behold, this we have searched out; it is true. Hear, and know it for your good.” “We have examined this, and it is true. So hear it and apply it to yourself.”
