3Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. | 3Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. | 3"Now gird up your loins like a man, And I will ask you, and you instruct Me! | 3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. | 3Get ready to answer Me like a man; when I question you, you will inform Me. |
4"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. | 4“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? 5Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? | 5Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? | 5Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? | 5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? | 5Who fixed its dimensions? Certainly you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? |
6On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone-- | 6On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, | 6"On what were its bases sunk? 12"Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, | 12“Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, | 12"Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, And caused the dawn to know its place, | 12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; | 12Have you ever in your life commanded the morning or assigned the dawn its place, |
13that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it? | 13that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it? | 13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it? | 13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? | 13so it may seize the edges of the earth and shake the wicked out of it? |

17Have the gates of death been shown to you? 35Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
