| 16 | Anyhow, isn't their happiness in their own power? (The plan of the wicked is foreign to my way of thinking.) | Behold, is not their prosperity in their hand? | 18 | How often are they like straw in the wind or like husks that the storm sweeps away? | That they are like straw before the wind, and like chaff that the storm carries away? | How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a gale? | |
| 19 | |[You say,] 'God saves a person's punishment for his children.' God should pay back that person so that he would know that it is a punishment. | You say, ‘God stores up their iniquity for their children.’ Let him pay it out to them, that they may know it. | It is said, ‘God stores up the punishment of the wicked for their children.’ Let him repay the wicked, so that they themselves will experience it! | |

| 30 | On the day of disaster the wicked person is spared.
