1 God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners, Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
2 hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds; but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
3 who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
4 having become by so much better than the angels, as he hath inherited a more excellent name than they. having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son? For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father|? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son|?
6 And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels winds, And his ministers a flame of fire: Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.” In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
8 but of the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; And the sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the works of thy hands: And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They shall perish; but thou continuest: And they all shall wax old as doth a garment; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
12 And as a mantle shalt thou roll them up, As a garment, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, And thy years shall not fail. like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.”
13 But of which of the angels hath he said at any time, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet? And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet|?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
