1 PAUL, an Apostle, not sent by men, nor appointed by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead; Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—
2 And all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia: and all the brothers who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: and all the brothers and sisters with me, To the churches in Galatia:
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our LORD Jesus Christ, Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God our Father: who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6 I am surprised how soon you have turned to another gospel, away from Christ who has called you by his grace; I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
7 A gospel which does not exist; howbeit, there are men who have stirred you up, and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
9 As I have said before, so say I now again, If any man preaches any other gospel to you than that you have received, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
10 Do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I tried to please men, I should not be a servant of Christ. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11 But I want you to know, my brethren, the gospel that I preached was not from men. For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.
12 For I did not receive it nor learn it from man, but through the revelation of Jesus Christ. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
13 You have heard of the manner of my life in time past in the Jews’ religion, how beyond measure I persecuted the Church of God and tried to destroy it: For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.
14 And how that I was far more advanced in the Jews’ religion than many of my age among the people of my race for above all, I was especially zealous for the doctrines of my forefathers. And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when it pleased God, who had chosen me from my birth, and called me by his grace, But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased
16 To reveal his Son to me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately disclose it to any human being: was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone; to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.
17 Neither did I go up to Jerusalem to them who had been apostles before me; but instead I went to Arabia and returned again to Damascus. nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Cephas Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days. Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days.
19 But I did not see any one of the other apostles, except James the brother of our LORD. But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother. I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother.
20 Now the things which I write to you, behold, I confess before God, I do not lie. (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!) I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie.
21 After that I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia; Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.
22 And I was unknown by face to the churches of Christ in Judæa. And I was still unknown in person to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
23 For they had heard only this much; that he who had persecuted us before now preached the faith which previously he tried to destroy. They only were hearing it said, “He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
24 And they praised God because of me. And they glorified God because of me. And they praised God because of me.
