1 And the word of YHWH came to me, saying: The word of the LORD came to me: The word of the LORD came to me:
2 “Son of man, set your face against the sons of Ammon, and prophesy against them. “Son of man, set your face toward the Ammonites and prophesy against them. “Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites and prophesy against them.
3 And say to the sons of Ammon, hear the word of the Lord YHWH, thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because you said, “Aha!” Against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it became desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went, into captivity; Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus says the Lord GOD, Because you said, ‘Aha!’ over my sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when they went into exile, Say to them, ‘Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you said “Aha!” over my sanctuary when it was desecrated and over the land of Israel when it was laid waste and over the people of Judah when they went into exile,
4 therefore behold, I am giving you to the sons of the East as a possession, and they will settle their encampments among you, and they will put their tents among you; they will eat your fruit, and they will drink your milk. therefore behold, I am handing you over to the people of the East for a possession, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings in your midst. They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. therefore I am going to give you to the people of the East as a possession. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk.
5 And I will give Rabbah as a habitation of camels, and the sons of Ammon as a resting place for the flock. And you⁺ will know that I am YHWH.’ I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels and Ammon a fold for flocks. Then you will know that I am the LORD. I will turn Rabbah into a pasture for camels and Ammon into a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
6 For thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because of your clapping hands and your stomping with feet, and you rejoiced with all contempt of heart against the land of Israel, For thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet and rejoiced with all the malice within your soul against the land of Israel, For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, rejoicing with all the malice of your heart against the land of Israel,
7 therefore behold, I am stretching out My hand against you, and will give you as plunder to the nations, and I will cut you off from the peoples, and I will cause you to perish from the lands; I will destroy you, and you will know that I am YHWH!’ therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand against you, and will hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the LORD. therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will wipe you out from among the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the LORD.’”
8 Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because of the saying of Moab and Seir, “Behold, like all the nations is the house of Judah,” “Thus says the Lord GOD: Because Moab and Seir said, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the other nations,’ “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Because Moab and Seir said, “Look, Judah has become like all the other nations,”
9 therefore behold, I am going to lay open the shoulder of Moab from the cities, from its cities on its frontier, the glory of the land—Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim— therefore I will lay open the flank of Moab from the cities, from its cities on its frontier, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim. therefore I will expose the flank of Moab, beginning at its frontier towns—Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon and Kiriathaim—the glory of that land.
10 to the sons of the East, along with the sons of Ammon, and I will give it as a possession, so that the sons of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations. I will give it along with the Ammonites to the people of the East as a possession, that the Ammonites may be remembered no more among the nations, I will give Moab along with the Ammonites to the people of the East as a possession, so that the Ammonites will not be remembered among the nations;
11 And against Moab I will make judgments, and they will know that I am YHWH.’ and I will execute judgments upon Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD. and I will inflict punishment on Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”
12 Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because Edom acted by taking vengeance against the house of Judah, so they incurred grievous guilt in the avenging themselves on them. “Thus says the Lord GOD: Because Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended in taking vengeance on them, “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Because Edom took revenge on Judah and became very guilty by doing so,
13 Therefore, thus says the Lord YHWH: I will stretch out My hand against Edom, and will cut off from it man and beast, and I will give it as a desolation; from Teman and to Dedan they will fall by the sword. therefore thus says the Lord GOD, I will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off from it man and beast. And I will make it desolate; from Teman even to Dedan they shall fall by the sword. therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and kill both man and beast. I will lay it waste, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
14 And I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel, and they will act in Edom according to My anger and according to My fury, and they will know My vengeance, a declaration of the Lord YHWH.’ And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and they shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord GOD. I will take vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they will deal with Edom in accordance with my anger and my wrath; they will know my vengeance, declares the Sovereign LORD.’”
15 Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘Because the Philistines acted with vengeance and took vengeance with scorn in the soul, to destroy with ancient hostility, “Thus says the Lord GOD: Because the Philistines acted revengefully and took vengeance with malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity, “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah,
16 therefore, thus says the Lord YHWH: Behold, I am stretching out My hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and I will destroy the remnant of the coast of the sea. therefore thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the rest of the seacoast. therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will wipe out the Kerethites and destroy those remaining along the coast.
17 And I will execute against them great vengeance, with rebukes of fury, and they will know that I am YHWH when I lay My vengeance upon them!’” I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I lay my vengeance upon them.” I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take vengeance on them.’”
