1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the doorposts and the thresholds will shake, and break them on the head of them all, and the last of them I will kill with the sword. No one fleeing can flee from them, and no fugative will escape from them. Though they dig down to the depths below, from there my hand will take them. Though they climb up to the heavens above, from there I will bring them down.
3 And if they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search and will take them; and if they hide from My eyes at the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them! If they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search them out and take them; and if they hide from my sight at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them. Though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, there I will hunt them down and seize them. Though they hide from my eyes at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.
4 And if they go into captivity before the face of their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it will kill them; and I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good!” And if they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it shall kill them; and I will fix my eyes upon them for evil and not for good.” Though they are driven into exile by their enemies, there I will command the sword to slay them. “I will keep my eye on them for harm and not for good.”
5 And the Lord YHWH of Hosts—the One touching the earth and it melts, and all those dwelling on it mourn, and all of it swells like the River, and it sinks like the River of Egypt, The Lord GOD of hosts, he who touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it mourn, and all of it rises like the Nile, and sinks again, like the Nile of Egypt; The Lord, the LORD Almighty— he touches the earth and it melts, and all who live in it mourn; the whole land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt;
