1 THEN the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem. 15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, giving useful advice in advance; because he had compassion on his people and on the flock that he had chosen; The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. Who is there among you of all his people with whom the LORD his God is pleased? Let him go up, and let him come to me. “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, may the LORD his God be with him. Let him go up.’” “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “’The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Any of his people among you may go up, and may the LORD their God be with them.’”
