1 And all Israel were enrolled; and behold, being written upon the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, they were carried into exile to Babel in their transgression. So all Israel was recorded in genealogies, and these are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their breach of faith. All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
2 And the first inhabitants which were in their possession in their cities, Israel the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinims. Now the first to dwell again in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants. Now the first to resettle on their own property in their own towns were some Israelites, priests, Levites and temple servants.
3 And in Jerusalem there dwelt from the sons of Judah, and from the sons of Benjamin, and from the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh: And some of the people of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh lived in Jerusalem: Those from Judah, from Benjamin, and from Ephraim and Manasseh who lived in Jerusalem were:
4 Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Benjamin, sons of Phares, son of Judah. Uthai the son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, from the sons of Perez the son of Judah. Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.
5 And from the Shilonites: Asaiah the first-born and his sons. And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons. Of the Shelanites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.
6 And from the sons of Zerah: Jenel and their brethren, six hundred and ninety. Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their kinsmen, 690. Of the Zerahites: Jeuel. The people from Judah numbered 690.
7 And from the sons of Benjamin: Salle son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hasenuah. Of the Benjaminites: Sallu the son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah, Of the Benjamites: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;
8 And Ibneiah son of Jeroham, and Elah son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah; Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, Elah the son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah; Ibneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Mikri; and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah.
9 And their brethren for their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men heads of the fathers to the house of their fathers. and their kinsmen according to their generations, 956. All these were heads of fathers’ houses according to their fathers’ houses. The people from Benjamin, as listed in their genealogy, numbered 956. All these men were heads of their families.
10 And from the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, and Jachin, Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin, Of the priests: Jedaiah; Jehoiarib; Jakin;
11 And Azariah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, leader of the house of God. and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, the chief officer of the house of God; Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the official in charge of the house of God;
12 And Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pashur, son of Malchiah, and Maasui son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemeth, son of Immer; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer; Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah; and Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer.
13 And their brethren, heads to the house of their fathers, a thousand seven hundred and sixty; strong ones of power, the work of the service of the house of God. besides their kinsmen, heads of their fathers’ houses, 1,760, mighty men for the work of the service of the house of God. The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.
14 And from the Levites Shemaiah son of Hashub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, from the sons of Memari; Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite;

16 And Obadiah son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthan, and Berechiah son of Asa, son of Elkanah, dwelling in the villages of the Netophathites. and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
17 The gate-keepers, Shallum and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren: Shallum the head; The gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their kinsmen (Shallum was the chief); The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their fellow Levites, Shallum their chief
18 And hitherto in the king's gate from the sunrising: they keeping the gate for the camps of the sons of Levi. until then they were in the king’s gate on the east side as the gatekeepers of the camps of the Levites. being stationed at the King’s Gate on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites.
19 And Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his brethren to the house of his father, the Korahites over the work of the service watching the thresholds to the tent: and their fathers over the camp of Jehovah watching the entrance. Shallum the son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his fathers’ house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the LORD, keepers of the entrance. Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family (the Korahites) were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their ancestors had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
20 And Phinehas son of Eleazar was leader over them to their face; Jehovah with him. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the chief officer over them in time past; the LORD was with him. In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar was the official in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.
21 Zechariah son of Meshelemiah, the gate of the opening to the tent of appointment. Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22 All of them chosen for the gates upon the thresholds, two hundred and twelve. They in their villages being enrolled, David founded them, and Samuel the seeing, in their faithfulness. All these, who were chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust. Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.
23 And they and their sons over the gates to the house of Jehovah to the house of the tent, for the watches. So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the LORD, that is, the house of the tent, as guards. They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the tent of meeting.
24 To the four quarters will be the gates, from the sunrising, the sea, the north and the south. The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south. The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south.
25 And their brethren in their enclosures to come for seven days from time to time with these. And their kinsmen who were in their villages were obligated to come in every seven days, in turn, to be with these, Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods.
26 For in faithfulness these four strong ones of the gates, these Levites, and they were over the cells and over the treasures of the house of God. for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasures of the house of God. But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God.
27 And they will lodge round about the house of God, for upon them the watches, and they over its opening, and for morning to morning. And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning. They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning.
28 And from them over the vessels of the service, for by number they will bring them in, and by number they will carry them forth. Some of them had charge of the utensils of service, for they were required to count them when they were brought in and taken out. Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out.
29 And from them being appointed over the vessels, and over all the vessels of the holy place, and over the fine flour and the wine and the oil, and the frankincense and the spices. Others of them were appointed over the furniture and over all the holy utensils, also over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the incense, and the spices. Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices.
30 And from the sons of the priests seasoning the ointment to the spices. Others, of the sons of the priests, prepared the mixing of the spices, But some of the priests took care of mixing the spices.
31 And Mattithiah from the Levites, he the first-born to Shallum the Korahite, in faithfulness over the work of the things cooked. and Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with making the flat cakes. A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread.
32 And from the sons of the Kohathites, from their brethren over the bread of arrangement to prepare the Sabbath, Sabbath. Also some of their kinsmen of the Kohathites had charge of the showbread, to prepare it every Sabbath. Some of the Kohathites, their fellow Levites, were in charge of preparing for every Sabbath the bread set out on the table.
33 And these singing, heads of the fathers to the Levites in the cells being free: for their day and night upon them in work. Now these, the singers, the heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, were in the chambers of the temple free from other service, for they were on duty day and night. Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.
34 These heads to the fathers to the Levites to their generations, heads; these dwelt in Jerusalem. These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, according to their generations, leaders. These lived in Jerusalem. All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs as listed in their genealogy, and they lived in Jerusalem.
35 And in Gibeon they dwelt, the father of Gibeon, Jehiel, and the name of his wife Maachah. In Gibeon lived the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, and the name of his wife was Maacah, Jeiel the father of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maakah,
36 And his son the first-born, Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, and his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, and his firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 And Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth; Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah and Mikloth.
38 And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And also they dwelt over against their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren. and Mikloth was the father of Shimeam; and these also lived opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem, with their kinsmen. Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
39 And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Esh-Baal. Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. Ner was the father of Kish, Kish the father of Saul, and Saul the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab and Esh-Baal.
40 And the son of Jonathan, Merib-Baal: and Merib-Baal begat Micah. And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah. The son of Jonathan: Merib-Baal, who was the father of Micah.
41 And the sons of Micah: Pithon and Melech, and Tahrea. The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz. The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melek, Tahrea and Ahaz.
42 And Ahaz begat Jarah, and Jarah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza; And Ahaz fathered Jarah, and Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. And Zimri fathered Moza. Ahaz was the father of Jadah, Jadah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri, and Zimri was the father of Moza.
43 And Moza, begat Binnea and Rephaiah his son, and Eleasah his son, Azel his son. Moza fathered Binea, and Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
44 And to Azel six sons, and these their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these the sons of Azel. Azel had six sons and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel. Azel had six sons, and these were their names: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
