1 Moreover David and the chief .officers of the army separated for the ministry the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Idithun : to prophesy with harps, and with psalteries, and with cymbals according to their number serving in their appointed office. David and the chiefs of the service also set apart for the service the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who prophesied with lyres, with harps, and with cymbals. The list of those who did the work and of their duties was: David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service:
2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zacchur, and Joseph, and Nathania, and Asarela, sons of Asaph: under the hand of Asaph prophesying near the king. Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king. From the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the king’s supervision.
3 And of Idithun: the sons of Idithun, Godolias, Serf, Jeseias, and Hasabias, and Mathathias, six, under the hand of their father Idithun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the Lord. Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the lyre in thanksgiving and praise to the LORD. As for Jeduthun, from his sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six in all, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied, using the harp in thanking and praising the LORD.
4 Of Heman also: the sons of Heman, Bocciau, Mathaniau, Oziel, Subuel, and Jerimoth, Hananias, Hanani, Eliatha, Geddelthi, and Romemthiezer, and Jesbacassa, Mellothi, Othir, Mahazioth: Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth. As for Heman, from his sons: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael and Jerimoth; Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-Ezer; Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.
5 All these were the sons of Heman the seer of the king in the words of God, to lift up the horn: and God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer, according to the promise of God to exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. (All these were sons of Heman the king’s seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)
6 All these under their father's hand were distributed to sing in the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, and psalteries and harps, for the service of the house of the Lord near the king: to wit, Asaph, and Idithun, and Heman. They were all under the direction of their father in the music in the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the order of the king. All these men were under the supervision of their father for the music of the temple of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king.
7 And the number of them with their brethren, that taught the song of the Lord, all the teachers, were two hundred and eighty-eight, The number of them along with their brothers, who were trained in singing to the LORD, all who were skillful, was 288. Along with their relatives—all of them trained and skilled in music for the LORD—they numbered 288.
8 And they cast lots by their courses, the elder equally with the younger, the learned and the unlearned together. And they cast lots for their duties, small and great, teacher and pupil alike. Young and old alike, teacher as well as student, cast lots for their duties.
9 And the first lot came forth to Joseph, who was of Asaph. The second to Godolias, to him and his sons, and his brethren twelve. The first lot fell for Asaph to Joseph; the second to Gedaliah, to him and his brothers and his sons, twelve; The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons and relatives 12 the second to Gedaliah, him and his relatives and sons 12
10 The third to Zachur, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the third to Zaccur, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the third to Zakkur, his sons and relatives 12

15 The eighth to Jesaia, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and relatives 12
16 The ninth to Mathanaias, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and relatives 12
17 The tenth to Semeias, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the tenth to Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the tenth to Shimei, his sons and relatives 12
18 The eleventh to Azareel, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and relatives 12
19 The twelfth to Hasabia, to his sons and his brethren twelve. the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and relatives 12
