| 1So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. | 1The heavens and the earth were completed with everything that was in them. |

| 5neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. | 11The first branch, called the Pishon, flowed around the entire land of Havilah, where gold is found. | 11The name of the first is Pishon; it runs through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. |

| 15The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. | 15The LORD God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it. |
| 16But the LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— | 16Then the LORD God commanded the man, "You may freely eat fruit from every tree of the orchard, |

| 24This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. | 24That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become a new family. |
