Psalm 132
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
LORD, remember David and all that he suffered.1A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:
He made a solemn promise to the LORD. He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel,2How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
“I will not go home; I will not let myself rest.3Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”5Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.6Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD; let us worship at the footstool of his throne.7We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
Arise, O LORD, and enter your resting place, along with the Ark, the symbol of your power.8Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
May your priests be clothed in godliness; may your loyal servants sing for joy.9Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
For the sake of your servant David, do not reject the king you have anointed.10For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
The LORD swore an oath to David with a promise he will never take back: “I will place one of your descendants on your throne.11The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
If your descendants obey the terms of my covenant and the laws that I teach them, then your royal line will continue forever and ever.”12If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
For the LORD has chosen Jerusalem ; he has desired it for his home.13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
“This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food.15I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will clothe its priests with godliness; its faithful servants will sing for joy.16I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.17There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but he will be a glorious king.”18His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
