Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.1Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won't be tempted.
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.2Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.3For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.4But each person should examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else.
For we are each responsible for our own conduct.5For each person will have to carry his own load.
Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them.6The one who is taught the message must share all his good things with the teacher.
Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.7Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap,
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.8because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.9So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up.
Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Paul’s Final Advice10Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.
Notice what large letters I use as I write these closing words in my own handwriting.11Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting.
Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised want to look good to others. They don’t want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save.12Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.
And even those who advocate circumcision don’t keep the whole law themselves. They only want you to be circumcised so they can boast about it and claim you as their disciples.13For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves; however, they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh.
As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.14But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world.
It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.15For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation.
May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God.16May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy to the Israel of God!
From now on, don’t let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus.17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body scars for the cause of Jesus.
Dear brothers and sisters, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.18Brothers, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
