A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. | 1I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise will be in my mouth continuously. |
My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. | 2My soul will glorify the LORD; the humble will hear about it and rejoice. |
Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. | 3Magnify the LORD with me! Let us lift up his name together! |
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. | 4I sought the LORD and he answered me; he delivered me from all of my fears. |
They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. | 5Look to him and be radiant; and you will not be ashamed. |
This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. | 6This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard and delivered him from all of his distress. |
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. | 7The angel of the LORD surrounds those who fear him, and he delivers them. |
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! | 8Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the person who trusts in him! |
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. | 9Fear the LORD, you holy ones of his; for those who fear him lack nothing. |
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. | 10Young lions lack and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD will never lack any good thing. |
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. | 11Come, children, listen to me, and I will teach you the fear of the LORD. |
Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? | 12Who among you desires life, and wants long life in order to see good? |
Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. | 13Then keep your tongue from doing evil and your lips from spreading lies. |
Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. | 14Avoid evil and do good! Seek peace and pursue it! |
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. | 15The LORD looks on the righteous, and he listens to their cries. |
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. | 16The face of the LORD is set against those who do evil, and he will remove people's recollection of them from the earth. |
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. | 17The LORD hears those who cry out, and he delivers them from all their distress. |
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. | 18The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and he delivers those whose spirit has been crushed. |
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. | 19A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all. |
He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. | 20God protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken. |
Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. | 21Evil will kill the wicked; those who hate the righteous will be held guilty. |
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. | 22The LORD redeems the lives of his servants; and none of those who trust in him will be held guilty. |
