Psalm 20
New International VersionNew American Standard Bible
For the director of music. A psalm of David. May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.1For the choir director. A Psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!
May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.2May He send you help from the sanctuary And support you from Zion!
May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.3May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable! Selah.
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.4May He grant you your heart's desire And fulfill all your counsel!
May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.5We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.6Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.7Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.8They have bowed down and fallen, But we have risen and stood upright.
LORD, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call!9Save, O LORD; May the King answer us in the day we call.
