New International VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
For the director of music. According to sheminith. A psalm of David. Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.1For the choir director: according to Sheminith. A Davidic psalm. Help, LORD, for no faithful one remains; the loyal have disappeared from the human race.
Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.2They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and deceptive hearts.
May the LORD silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue--3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks boastfully.
those who say, "By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us--who is lord over us?"4They say, "Through our tongues we have power; our lips are our own--who can be our master?""
"Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them."5Because of the oppression of the afflicted and the groaning of the poor, I will now rise up," says the LORD." I will put the one who longs for it in a safe place."
And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,7You, LORD, will guard us; You will protect us from this generation forever.
who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.8The wicked wander everywhere, and what is worthless is exalted by the human race.
