For the choir director; according to Mahalath. A Maskil of David. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God," They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.1To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge, Who eat up My people as though they ate bread And have not called upon God?4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
There they were in great fear where no fear had been; For God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; You put them to shame, because God had rejected them.5There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores His captive people, Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.6Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
