Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us.6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you,7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;8Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.9Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.12Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.13But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!16Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand, and this is a distinguishing mark in every letter; this is the way I write.17The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
