King James BibleNET Bible
A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment.
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah)
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!
They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.'
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers."
Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations.
