To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! | 1For the choir director. A Psalm of David. O LORD, in Your strength the king will be glad, And in Your salvation how greatly he will rejoice! |
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. | 2You have given him his heart's desire, And You have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah. |
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. | 3For You meet him with the blessings of good things; You set a crown of fine gold on his head. |
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. | 4He asked life of You, You gave it to him, Length of days forever and ever. |
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him. | 5His glory is great through Your salvation, Splendor and majesty You place upon him. |
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance. | 6For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence. |
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. | 7For the king trusts in the LORD, And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he will not be shaken. |
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. | 8Your hand will find out all your enemies; Your right hand will find out those who hate you. |
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. | 9You will make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger; The LORD will swallow them up in His wrath, And fire will devour them. |
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. | 10Their offspring You will destroy from the earth, And their descendants from among the sons of men. |
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform. | 11Though they intended evil against You And devised a plot, They will not succeed. |
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. | 12For You will make them turn their back; You will aim with Your bowstrings at their faces. |
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power. | 13Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength; We will sing and praise Your power. |
