Psalm 12
KJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleEnglish Standard Version
1To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.1Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
2They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.2Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts,
4Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?4those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
5For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.5“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
7Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.7You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
8The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.8On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.
