A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. | 1LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me. |
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. | 2Many say about me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah |
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. | 3But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. |
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. | 4I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah |
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. | 5I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the LORD sustains me. |
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. | 6I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side. |
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. | 7Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. |
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah. | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people. Selah |
