To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. | 1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. | 2He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken. |
How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. | 3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning wall or a tottering fence? |
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. | 4They fully intend to cast him down from his lofty perch; they delight in lies; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah |
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. | 5Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. | 6He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken. |
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. | 7My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God. |
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. | 8Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah |
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. | 9Lowborn men are but a vapor, the exalted but a lie. Weighed on the scale, they go up; together they are but a vapor. |
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. | 10Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. |
God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. | 11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God, |
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. | 12and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds. |
