To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.2He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken.
How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning wall or a tottering fence?
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.4They fully intend to cast him down from his lofty perch; they delight in lies; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.5Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.6He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken.
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.7My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.8Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.9Lowborn men are but a vapor, the exalted but a lie. Weighed on the scale, they go up; together they are but a vapor.
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.10Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God,
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.12and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds.
