God, by your name deliver me, and by your power vindicate me. | 1For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, "Is not David hiding among us?" Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. |
God, listen to my prayer, and pay attention to the words of my mouth. | 2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. |
For the arrogant have arisen against me; oppressors have sought to take my life. They do not keep God in mind! Interlude | 3Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me-- people without regard for God. |
Look, God is my helper; the Lord is with those who are guarding my life. | 4Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
He will turn the evil upon those who lie in wait for me. Cut them off with your truth. | 5Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. |
With a free will offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, LORD, because it is good, | 6I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good. |
for he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have seen the end of my enemies. | 7You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. |
