Revelation 20
ISV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key to the bottomless pit, with a large chain in his hand. 1Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
He captured the dragon, that ancient serpent, also known as the devil and Satan, and tied him up for a thousand years. 2And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
He threw him into the bottomless pit, locked it, and sealed it over him to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were over. After that, he must be set free for a little while.3and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.
Then I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. They came back to life and ruled with the Messiah for a thousand years. 4Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years were over. This is the first resurrection. 5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
How blessed and holy are those who participate in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them. They will be priests of God and the Messiah, and will rule with him for a thousand years.6Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
When the thousand years are over, Satan will be freed from his prison. 7When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison,
He will go out to deceive Gog and Magog, the nations at the four corners of the earth, and gather them for war. They are as numerous as the sands of the seashore. 8and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore.
They marched over the broad expanse of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. Fire came from God out of heaven and burned them up, 9And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
and the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were. They will be tortured day and night forever and ever.10And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Then I saw a large, white throne and the one who was sitting on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and no place was found for them. 11Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
I saw the dead, both unimportant and important, standing in front of the throne, and books were open. Another book was opened—the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their actions, as recorded in the books. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to their actions. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. (This is the second death—the lake of fire.) 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.15And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
