Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea no longer existed.1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
I also saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. 2And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look! God's dwelling is with humanity, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. 4and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."
Then the One seated on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words are faithful and true."5And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."
And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water as a gift to the thirsty from the spring of life.6Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.7"He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.
But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars--their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." 8"But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me: "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." 9Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
He then carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
arrayed with God's glory. Her radiance was like a very precious stone, like a jasper stone, bright as crystal. 11having the glory of God. Her brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal-clear jasper.
The city had a massive high wall, with 12 gates. Twelve angels were at the gates; the names of the 12 tribes of Israel's sons were inscribed on the gates.12It had a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel.
There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.13There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west.
The city wall had 12 foundations, and the 12 names of the Lamb's 12 apostles were on the foundations. 14And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.15The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, and its gates and its wall.
The city is laid out in a square; its length and width are the same. He measured the city with the rod at 12,000 stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal. 16The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal.
Then he measured its wall, 144 cubits according to human measurement, which the angel used. 17And he measured its wall, seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements.
The building material of its wall was jasper, and the city was pure gold like clear glass. 18The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
The foundations of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 19The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;
the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 20the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.
The 12 gates are 12 pearls; each individual gate was made of a single pearl. The broad street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
I did not see a sanctuary in it, because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its sanctuary. 22I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God's glory illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.23And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.
Each day its gates will never close because it will never be night there.25In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;
They will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.26and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it;
Nothing profane will ever enter it: no one who does what is vile or false, but only those written in the Lamb's book of life. 27and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
