Psalm 123
HCSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
1A song of ascents. I lift my eyes to You, the One enthroned in heaven. 1To you, who sit enthroned in heaven, I lift up my eyes.
2Like a servant's eyes on his master's hand, like a servant girl's eyes on her mistress's hand, so our eyes are on the LORD our God until He shows us favor. 2Consider this: as the eyes of a servant focus on what his master provides, and as the eyes of a female servant focus on what her mistress provides, so our eyes focus on the LORD our God, until he has mercy on us.
3Show us favor, LORD, show us favor, for we've had more than enough contempt. 3Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy, for we have had more than enough of contempt.
4We've had more than enough scorn from the arrogant and contempt from the proud. 4Our lives overflow with scorn from those who live at ease, with contempt from those who are proud.
