1Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! | 1Hallelujah! Sing a new song to the LORD, praising him where the godly gather together. |
2Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! | 2May Israel rejoice in its Maker, and Zion's descendants in their King! |
3Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! | 3May they praise his name with dancing, chanting songs to him with tambourines and lyres. |
4For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. | 4For the LORD is pleased with his people; he beautifies the afflicted with salvation. |
5Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. | 5May those he loves be exalted, singing for joy on their couches. |
6Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, | 6Let high praises to God be heard in their throats, while they wield two-edged swords in their hands |
7to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, | 7as they bring retribution to nations and punishment to peoples, |
8to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, | 8binding their kings with chains, their officials with iron bands, |
9to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all his godly ones. Praise the LORD! | 9and executing the judgment written against them. This is honor for all the ones he loves. Hallelujah! |
