ESV Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]

“Call now; is there anyone who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?1“Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Surely vexation kills the fool, and jealousy slays the simple.2For resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling.3I have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
His children are far from safety; they are crushed in the gate, and there is no one to deliver them.4His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
The hungry eat his harvest, and he takes it even out of thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.5The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from the thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground,6For distress does not spring from the dust, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.
but man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward.7Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
“As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause,8However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him—
who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number:9the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.
he gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields;10He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.
he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.11He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety.
He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.12He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.
He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.13He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.
They meet with darkness in the daytime and grope at noonday as in the night.14They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.
But he saves the needy from the sword of their mouth and from the hand of the mighty.15He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful.
So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.16So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
“Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.17Blessed indeed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
For he wounds, but he binds up; he shatters, but his hands heal.18For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.
He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no evil shall touch you.19He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.
In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword.20In famine He will redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
You shall be hidden from the lash of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes.21You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and will not fear havoc when it comes.
At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the beasts of the earth.22You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
For you shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.23For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
You shall know that your tent is at peace, and you shall inspect your fold and miss nothing.24You will know that your tent is secure, and find nothing amiss when inspecting your home.
You shall know also that your offspring shall be many, and your descendants as the grass of the earth.25You will know that your offspring will be many, your descendants like the grass of the earth.
You shall come to your grave in ripe old age, like a sheaf gathered up in its season.26You will come to the grave in full vigor, like a sheaf of grain gathered in season.
Behold, this we have searched out; it is true. Hear, and know it for your good.”27Indeed, we have investigated, and it is true! So hear it and know for yourself.”
