| 1Hallelujah! My soul, praise the LORD. | 1Praise the LORD! Let all that I am praise the LORD. |

| 3Do not trust in nobles, in a son of man, who cannot save. | 3Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. |
| 4When his breath leaves him, he returns to the ground; on that day his plans die. | 4When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. |

| 9The LORD protects resident aliens and helps the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. | 9The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. |
| 10The LORD reigns forever; Zion, your God reigns for all generations. Hallelujah! | 10The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD! |
