LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me.1A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Many say about me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the LORD sustains me.5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side.6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people. Selah8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
