1Now the main point upon the things being spoken of is that we have such a high priest, who sat down at (in) the right hand/side of the throne of the Majesty (Greatness) in the heavens;
2A minister (public official) of the holy places and of the true tabernacle (tent), which the Lord, not man, has pitched.
3For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; for which reason it is necessary for this one to have something that he might offer.
4Then if he were upon the earth he would not be a priest, there being those offering the gifts according to the law;
5Who serve (as a qualified hire) as a copy and shadow of the heavenlies, just as Moses was divinely warned, being about to complete the tabernacle; See that, indeed, He declares (bring to light by asserting one statement over another), “You will make all things according to the type (pattern) having been shown to you on (in) the mountain.”
6However now He has obtained a more excellent (surpassing, differing) ministry, how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted (made law) upon better promises. 7For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then a place would not have been sought for a second. 8For finding fault with them, He says, “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, I will culminate (complete, fulfill, consummate) a new covenant upon the house of Israel and upon the house of Judah; 9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day of having taken hold upon their hand by Me to lead them from out of the land of Egypt; because they did not remain in My covenant and I disregarded them, says the Lord.” 10“Because this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, putting My laws into their mind, and I will inscribe (upon-write) them upon their hearts; and I will be God unto them and they will be a people unto Me.” 11“And they shall not each teach his fellow-citizen and each his brother saying, Know the Lord; because all will know (see and know, perceive) Me, from the least to the greatest of them, ” 12“because I will be merciful (propitious, forgiving, latin-propitius-pardon roots are merciful/gracious/kinder) to their injustices (unrighteousnesses) and I will remember their sins no more.” 13In saying, “New, ” He has made the first old (obsolete); and that becoming old (decaying, obsolete, latin-antiquatur-decaying root is ancient) and aging (latin-senescit-aging) is near vanishing (disappearing). |
