2 Corinthians 9
Literal Emphasis Translation Par ▾
1Now it is superfluous (more than enough) for me to write to you concerning the ministry unto the saints. 2For I know your readiness, of which I boast of concerning you to the Macedonians, that Achaia has been prepared from a year ago and your zeal has been provoking (stirring up) the greater number of them. 3But I have sent the brothers so that our boasting which is about you should not be made void in this matter, so that you may be prepared just as I have been saying. 4Lest perhaps if the Macedonians should come with me and find you unprepared, we- not to speak of you- would be put to shame in this assurance. 5Therefore, I highly esteemed (lead, suppose) it necessary to entreat the brothers so that they should go before unto you and prepare beforehand this foreannounced (promised beforehand, announce before) blessing of you, so that it may be prepared as a blessing and not as taking advantage of (avarice, covetousness, lusting after temporal things beyond what God determines as best).

6And this: the one sowing sparingly (abstemiously, stingily) will also reap sparingly, and the one sowing upon blessings, will also reap upon blessings. 7Each one just as he purposes (proposes, brings forward, prefers before) in the heart not from out of regret (pain, sadness, vexation, distress, heavy emotions that bring one down) or from out of necessity (compulsion, constraint, compelling need), for God loves a cheerful (propitious, disposed because satisfied, non-reluctant, cheerful because already approving, favorably inclined) giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound unto you, so that always having all sufficiency (self-sufficiency, independence) in everything, you may abound unto every good work.

9Just as it has been written, “He has scattered abroad; He has given to the poor (one who works for his living, so poor that he earns his bread by daily labor): His righteousness abides unto the age.”

10He who is supplying seed to him sowing and bread unto food, will richly supply (one that funds and leads a grand event/chorus) and will multiply (increase, make full to max capacity) the seed for your sowing and will increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11Being enriched in everything unto all unworldly simplicity (generousity, latin- simplicitatem, not being over-complicated, not folded), which accomplishes through us, thanksgiving to God. 12For the ministry (diakonia) of this service (official sacred ministry) is not only filling up (fill up by adding to) the needs (what is lacking) of the saints but rather it is also abounding because of many thanksgivings to God. 13Because of the proof (approval) of this service (diakonias), they are glorifying God upon the submission of your common confession unto the gospel of Christ and the unworldly simplicity (generousity) of the participation unto them and unto all, 14And their supplication (entreating for a specific, heart-felt need) is on behalf of you, a longing for you because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15Thanks be to God upon His indescribable gift!
