Leviticus 18
Lamsa Bible Par ▾
1AND the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, I am the LORD your God. 3You shall not do according to the doings of the land of Egypt wherein you dwelt, neither shall you do according to the doings of the land of Canaan whither I bring you; neither shall you walk in their ordinances. 4But you shall do my judgments and keep my commandments and walk in them; I am the LORD your God. 5You shall therefore keep my commandments and my judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them; I am the LORD.

6None of you shall be intimate with any that is near of kin to him to uncover her nakedness; I am the LORD. 7You shall not shame your father by approaching your mother; she is your mother, you shall not uncover her nakedness. 8You shall not approach your father's wife; it is your father's nakedness. 9You shall not approach your sister, the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, whether she is begotten of your father or of another man. 10You shall not approach your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, because they are your own kin. 11You shall not approach your father's wife's daughter, begotten of your father, she is your sister; you shall not uncover her nakedness. 12You shall not approach your father's sister, she is your father's near kinswoman. 13You shall not approach your mother's sister, for she is your mother's near kinswoman. 14You shall not put to shame your father's brother; you shall not approach his wife: for she is your aunt, you shall not uncover her nakedness. 15You shall not approach your daughter-in-law; for she is your son's wife; you shall not uncover tier nakedness. 16You shall not approach your brother's wife; it is your brother's nakedness. 17You shall not approach a woman and her daughter; neither shall you take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter to uncover nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen; it is wickedness. 18And you shall not take to wife a sister of your wife, to distress her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.

19You shall not be intimate with a woman while she is unclean during her menstruation. 20Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife to defile yourself with her. 21You shall not let any of your semen be cast into a strange woman to cause her to be pregnant; neither shall you profane the name of your God; I am the LORD. 22You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; because it is an abomination. 23Neither shall you lie with any beast to defile yourself with it; neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie with it; because it is an abomination.

24Do not defile yourselves in any of these things; for it was in all these that the nations are defiled which I am casting out before you; 25And the land is defiled; therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it so that the land is bereaved of its inhabitants. 26You shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither you nor any proselytes who sojourn among you 27(For all these sins have the men of the land done who were before you, and the land is defiled); 28Do not defile the land, lest it cast you out as it cast out the nations that were before you. 29For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30Therefore you shall keep my ordinance, and you shall not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and you shall not defile yourselves by them; I am the LORD your God.
