I myself have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.3I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling.3"I have seen the foolish taking root, And I cursed his abode immediately.3I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.3I have seen a fool taking root, but I immediately pronounced a curse on his home.
His children are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.4His children are far from safety; they are crushed in the gate, and there is no one to deliver them.4"His sons are far from safety, They are even oppressed in the gate, And there is no deliverer.4His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.4His children are far from safety. They are crushed at the city gate, with no one to rescue them.

The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from among thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.5The hungry eat his harvest, and he takes it even out of thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.5"His harvest the hungry devour And take it to a place of thorns, And the schemer is eager for their wealth.5Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.5The hungry consume his harvest, even taking it out of the thorns. The thirsty pant for his children's wealth.
For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground.6For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground,6"For affliction does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,6Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;6For distress does not grow out of the soil, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.
Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.7but man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward.7For man is born for trouble, As sparks fly upward.7Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.7But mankind is born for trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
"But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.8“As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause,8"But as for me, I would seek God, And I would place my cause before God;8I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:8However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and would present my case to Him.

The lowly he sets on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.11he sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.11So that He sets on high those who are lowly, And those who mourn are lifted to safety.11To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.11He sets the lowly on high, and mourners are lifted to safety.

He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away.13He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.13"He captures the wise by their own shrewdness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.13He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.13He traps the wise in their craftiness so that the plans of the deceptive are quickly brought to an end.
Darkness comes upon them in the daytime; at noon they grope as in the night.14They meet with darkness in the daytime and grope at noonday as in the night.14"By day they meet with darkness, And grope at noon as in the night.14They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.14They encounter darkness by day, and they grope at noon as if it were night.

He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth; he saves them from the clutches of the powerful.15But he saves the needy from the sword of their mouth and from the hand of the mighty.15"But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the mighty.15But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.15He saves the needy from their sharp words and from the clutches of the powerful.
So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.16So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.16"So the helpless has hope, And unrighteousness must shut its mouth.16So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.16So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
"Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.17“Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.17"Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.17Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:17See how happy the man is God corrects; so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.
For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal.18For he wounds, but he binds up; he shatters, but his hands heal.18"For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, and His hands also heal.18For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.18For He crushes but also binds up; He strikes, but His hands also heal.
From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will touch you.19He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven no evil shall touch you.19"From six troubles He will deliver you, Even in seven evil will not touch you.19He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.19He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.

You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.21You shall be hidden from the lash of the tongue, and shall not fear destruction when it comes.21"You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.21Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.21You will be safe from slander and not fear destruction when it comes.
You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the wild animals.22At destruction and famine you shall laugh, and shall not fear the beasts of the earth.22"You will laugh at violence and famine, And you will not be afraid of wild beasts.22At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.22You will laugh at destruction and hunger and not fear the animals of the earth.

You will know that your children will be many, and your descendants like the grass of the earth.25You shall know also that your offspring shall be many, and your descendants as the grass of the earth.25"You will know also that your descendants will be many, And your offspring as the grass of the earth.25Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.25You will also know that your offspring will be many and your descendants like the grass of the earth.
You will come to the grave in full vigor, like sheaves gathered in season.26You shall come to your grave in ripe old age, like a sheaf gathered up in its season.26"You will come to the grave in full vigor, Like the stacking of grain in its season.26Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.26You will approach the grave in full vigor, as a stack of sheaves is gathered in its season.
